I have an education in fine art but found a home in the field of decorative painting in the mid 1970’s.
I work in acrylic, watercolor, oils, and alkyds and have recently added colored pencil.
For 40 years I have shared my knowledge and techniques with decorative painters through the many classes, seminars, and show classes that I have taught in the US and internationally. I have produced a large body of published work including over 800 instructional tutorials, 18 books as well as numerous magazine articles and videos.
Painting and teaching have so long been a part of my life, that it is impossible to imagine my life without them. One of the most satisfying
parts of teaching is the interaction with students and seeing them succeed with their paintings.
I have been a member of the Society of Decorative Painters since 1975 and served on the board of directors for six years, as President in 1990-91. I received the Certified Degree Artist award in 1979. I was awarded the Silver Palette in 2006, and the Dedicated Service Award in 2011.
Robert and I currently operate an e-commerce web site and conduct a series of seminars in Williamsburg, VA.
I also maintain an active travel seminar program in the US and abroad. You may contact me and see examples of my work and the current seminar schedule on my website (see below).
You may find several demonstrations on my YouTube Channel and keep up with me on Facebook (see below).
